Proprietor fined for violation of safety legislation

A proprietor was fined $11,000 at Fanling Magistrates' Courts today (October 11) for violation of the Factories and Industrial Undertakings Ordinance and the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Guarding and Operation of Machinery) Regulations. The prosecutions were launched by the Labour Department.

The case involved a fatal accident that occurred on March 10, this year, at a plastic recycling workplace in Yuen Long. A shareholder of the workplace, while handling plastic pieces, was trapped by a revolving spiral conveyor of a plastic crushing machine. The shareholder sustained injuries and passed away on the same day.
