Four persons sentenced for violating anti-epidemic regulations

The first two cases involved a 61-year-old woman and a 47-year-old woman who earlier tested positive for COVID-19 and were issued with isolation orders. Before the end of the isolation period, the 61-year-old woman left the place of isolation on August 13 last year, whereas the 47 year-old woman left the place of isolation and removed her electronic wristband on August 7 last year. The 61-year-old woman was charged with contravening sections 32(1) and (3) of Cap. 599A and was fined $5,000 by the Fanling Magistrates' Courts today. The 47-year-old woman was charged with contravening sections 23(1), (4) and (5) and sections 32(1) and (3) of Cap. 599A and was fined a total of $5,000 by the Fanling Magistrates' Courts today.
The other two cases involved a 24-year-old man and a 49-year-old woman, who were earlier issued with compulsory quarantine orders. Before the expiry of the quarantine orders, they left the place of quarantine on September 9 last year and October 1, 2021, respectively. The 24-year-old man was charged with contravening sections 22(1), (4) and (6) of Cap. 599A and was fined $10,000 by the Kwun Tong Magistrates' Courts today. The 49-year-old woman was charged with contravening sections 8(1) and (5) of Cap. 599C and was fined $5,000 by the Fanling Magistrates' Courts today.
