Addressing the seminar, the Head of the Civil Service College, Mr Oscar Kwok, said that the "two sessions" concluded last month carry special significance for Hong Kong. With the full support from the Central Government, Hong Kong is uniquely positioned to make significant contributions to national strategies that would ultimately allow the nation to fulfil the Second Centenary Goal and achieve the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
He further pointed out that the complexity and volatility of today's global environment could have significant impacts on various aspects of the society. Civil servants have an innate responsibility to seek a deeper understanding of the environment in which they operate, and be acutely aware of global trends and their potential impacts on the society, and the necessary responses from them as policymakers to protect the interests of the citizens. He was delighted to have the two distinguished speakers share their insights on navigating today's complex landscape.
The Civil Service College launched the "Expert Round Table for Economic Development" series since 2021. It brings together experts from the financial and related sectors to discuss the latest economic development and related issues in Hong Kong and strengthen civil servants' exchanges with the sectors.
