"The LAB is a successful model of tripartite collaboration. Over the years, the LAB has taken forward labour policies and related measures through candid communication, discussion and negotiation, thereby improving employees' rights and benefits. I hope that members of the new term will continue to perform the important functions of the LAB and contribute to the advancement of various labour issues," said Mr Sun.
"Having a long history, the LAB is the most representative tripartite consultative body. Aspiring to build consensus for achieving a win-win situation for both employees and employers, the LAB has long addressed labour matters through a rational and pragmatic approach. I look forward to strengthening collaboration with all LAB members of the new term in improving employees' rights and benefits together," said Ms Chan.
Ms Chan also paid warm tribute to the outgoing employee representative, Mr Lo Tai-chi, for his contributions to the LAB during his term of office.
As an elected employee representative has resigned from the service of the LAB, an appointment to fill the vacancy will be made after a by-election of employee representative for the LAB. Details of the by-election will be announced in due course.
