Hong Kong Customs seizes suspected dangerous drugs worth about $3.7 million (with photo)

     Hong Kong Customs yesterday (January 2) seized about 4 kilograms of suspected dangerous drugs with a total estimated market value of about $3.7 million in Yuen Long. A 31-year-old man was arrested.

     During an anti-narcotics operation conducted in Yuen Long last night, Customs officers intercepted a suspicious man. Customs officers later escorted him to a residential unit nearby for a search and seized about 3.2kg of suspected cocaine, 800 grams of suspected crack cocaine and a batch of suspected drug manufacturing and packaging paraphernalia. The 31-year-old man was subsequently arrested.

     An investigation is ongoing.

     Under the Dangerous Drugs Ordinance, trafficking in a dangerous drug is a serious offence. The maximum penalty upon conviction is a fine of $5 million and life imprisonment.
