DPO and HKIIT sign Memorandum of Understanding (with photos)

    The Digital Policy Office and the Hong Kong Institute of Information Technology (HKIIT), a member institution of the Vocational Training Council, signed a Memorandum of Understanding today (January 7) to jointly promote information technology (IT) professional training in government departments and public organisations.
 
    With the advent of the digital government era, there is an increasing demand for training in management and application of IT in government departments and public organisations. Apart from collaborating with the Civil Service College in organising a series of Innovation and Technology leadership training sessions targeted at the senior management of the Government, with the aim to enhance their capabilities in spearheading the implementation of digital government, the DPO will work closely with the HKIIT in developing a wide range of IT-related training courses covering topics, including cybersecurity, data literacy and digital transformation, with a view to enhancing the skills of the staff of government departments and public organisations in IT management and applications. These professional training courses will be designed with specific reference to the scenarios and challenges faced by government departments and public organisations in the provision of public services, thus allowing trainees to apply the IT knowledge learned in their workplace.
 
    The Commissioner for Digital Policy, Mr Tony Wong, said that with the wide adoption of IT and the increasing complexity of systems, data security protection has become a major challenge. Through hands-on practices in training courses, colleagues can learn the latest cybersecurity skills and protection measures to build a stronger defense for the systems and data of government departments and public organisations.
 
    On data literacy in the era of big data, it has become a key skill for every organisation to effectively analyse and utilise data. Mr Wong said he believed that through professional training, colleagues will be able to better understand data and apply it to policy formulation, optimisation of public services and digital transformation.
