Place of Refuge
Service Description
It provides temporary accommodation and care for disabled children and juvenile admitted under the Protection of Children and Juveniles Ordinance, Cap. 213 to ensure their safety.
Eligibility for the Service
- Mentally handicapped and / or physically handicapped children and juveniles ;
- aged 8 to under 18 (or 21 for disabled wards of the Director of Social Welfare) in need of temporary care or protection.
Application Procedures
Prior consultation with the Superintendent concerned should be made by the referring social worker before the child or juvenile is sent to the Place of Refuge. In the absence of the Superintendent, staff on duty should be approached as the office is manned by staff on 24-hour basis. The application is free of charge.
