To further address the housing needs of young people, the Government announced in the 2022 Policy Address and the Youth Development Blueprint the initiative to expand the Youth Hostel Scheme by subsidising NGOs to rent suitable hotels and guesthouses for use as youth hostels.

The "YOT Hub" located in the Regal Oriental Hotel, 30-38 Sa Po Road, Kowloon City, is launched by the Yan Oi Tong Limited and the Regal Hotels Group. The youth hostel has a total of 80 rooms, provding up to 160 hostel places for one-person or two-person application.

One of the features of the project is to help youth tenants enrich their understanding of the national development opportunities through trainings, exchange programmes and internship programmes. It will also provide young people with self-enhancement and support services in different aspects, such as financial management courses, career development workshops and mental health seminars. In addition, the Yan Oi Tong Limited will form a youth service team and invite young people to collaborate in organising community activities. Volunteer services will also be arranged regularly to encourage young people to contribute to the community and establish their sense of belonging to society and responsibility.

Eligibility

- Hong Kong permanent resident aged 18 or above but below 31 as at the application deadline
- Working youth (e.g. Full-time, Part-time, Self-employed)
- Monthly income not exceeding HKD28,000 for a one-person applicant (The income level of a two-person applicant should not exceed twice that of a one-person applicant)
- Total net asset not exceeding HKD398,000 and HKD796,000 respectively for a one-person household and a two-person household
- Do not own or co-own any residential property in Hong Kong
- If the applicants are public housing tenants, the the public housing or interm housing should not be left vacant due to the youth hostel tenancy
- Have not been living in the youth hostels under the Youth Hostel Scheme of the Government, for more than three years
