Four employers ordered to pay MPF non-payment

    The Mandatory Provident Fund Schemes Authority (MPFA) today (March 9) obtained orders in the District Court for payment of outstanding MPF contributions of about $650,000 against four employers.  

     The court issued judgments against four employers - All-Way (HK) Limited, Yiu Chun Fat trading as Fat Kee Bean Curd Factory, Fong Kwai Hing trading as Heung Kwong Motor's Battery Electric & Air-Conditioning and Blessearn Limited trading as Greenlands India Club. The defendants were ordered to pay the MPFA the sums of $417,137.11, $92,881.48, $76,360.63 and $70,752.46, being mandatory contributions in arrears and surcharges payable to 70, 3, 2 and 3 employees of the defendants respectively.

     The court also ordered Yiu Chun Fat trading as Fat Kee Bean Curd Factory and Blessearn Limited trading as Greenlands India Club to pay the MPFA the respective sums of $5,000 being financial penalty imposed by the MPFA for failure to make MPF contributions for employees.

     The amounts awarded will be reimbursed to the employees' MPF accounts as soon as they are received by the MPFA. The District Court further awarded payments of $930 for each case as the costs in respect of the claims.
