A themed “Say “NO” to Objectionable Information” exhibition on understanding “Control of Obscene and Indecent Articles Ordinance”. The exhibition aims to raise public awareness of the Ordinance and enhance the understanding of healthy use of the internet. The "2024/25 Meritorious Websites Contest" is organised by the Office for Film, Newspaper and Article Administration (OFNAA). The co-organisers include the Education Bureau, the Committee on Home-School Co-operation, the Hong Kong Internet Service Providers Association and the Radio Television Hong Kong. The objective of the contests is to encourage young people to browse healthy websites.The contests are conducted under the slogan "Surf smartly. Spend our time wisely", we encourage young people to develop good surfing habit. In view of the spawning objectionable materials on the Internet, the organising committee hopes to stress on "Say no to objectionable materials. Browse healthy websites" and recognise the contributions of healthy websites producers and Apps developers.Lots of information and entertainment can be found online, thus we should be discerning and maintain self-discipline when surfing the Internet. Whether or not the Internet is beneficial hinges on whether we have good surfing habit. Are you taking control of the computer mouse or is it taking control of you? Chinese Medicine (CM) is a precious heritage of Chinese culture and plays an important role in treatment of diseases and preventive healthcare. CM is an important part in Hong Kong's healthcare system and is closely related to the healthy being of citizens.In order to vigorously promote the development of CM on all fronts and support the national initiative to promote CM cultural heritage, the Health Bureau will organise the first "Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Culture Festival" from December 2024 to February 2025, in collaboration with the stakeholders of the CM industry and different sectors of the society to promote CM culture. It is hoped that the Festival help deepen public understanding of CM and promote its long-term development.A series of diversified programmes will be launched during the "Hong Kong Chinese Medicine Culture Festival" to arouse public’s interest, strength experience and recognition of the CM culture, so as to enhance health literacy and mindset, and promote the inheritance and development of CM culture.

From November 2024 to February 2025, the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department organises the “Discovering Robin's Nest Country Park” Hiking Challenge, encouraging nature lovers to embark on a journey to Robin's Nest. The event comprises eight checkpoints, each showcasing the unique scenery of the Robin's Nest Country Park.Participants should read through this Challenge Guide and related information, plan their routes to RNCP based on their physical fitness and hiking experience, and check in at the checkpoints using their mobile phone's location system. Upon completing each checkpoint, participants can collect a corresponding Robin's Nest e-badge. Collecting a specified number of badges will entitle them to exquisite prizes. Marking the fourth anniversary of the implementation of the Hong Kong National Security Law (NSL), the Security Bureau (SB) launched the updated NSL online virtual exhibition with enriched content to introduce the Safeguarding National Security Ordinance (SNSO) which took effect upon gazettal in March this year. Other new additions include the mascot Security Bear as well as comics and animations with national security as the theme to promote national security education in an interesting and lively way.In addition to the content related to the NSL in the updated exhibition, a new virtual exhibition hall has been added to introduce the features and main offences of the SNSO. Supplemented with simple and easy-to-understand questions and answers, information in the hall will enable members of the public to understand more fully the legal system and enforcement mechanisms of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region in safeguarding national security.The updated exhibition continues to use the Hong Kong Palace Museum embellished with Chinese cultural elements as its virtual background, with the Security Bureau's mascot Security Bear joining to accompany visitors during the tour to enhance their enjoyment. In addition, the virtual exhibition has launched for the first time serialised national security-themed comics and animations, illustrating the importance of safeguarding national security and law-abiding awareness in an easy-to-understand manner. Visitors, especially youth, can also gain more relevant knowledge through mini-games featuring the Security Bear.There are nine zones in the updated virtual exhibition. Apart from the new content mentioned above, the exhibition covers information on the importance of the NSL, the legal system and enforcement mechanisms, major provisions and effectiveness, the work of various disciplined forces in safeguarding national security, reference materials and the winning entries of the Let's Join Hands in Safeguarding National Security Programme.

The Care and Concern Concerts are arranged by participating schools and presented to the elderly, special schools’ students, people with disabilities, new immigrants, ethnic minorities and beneficiaries of local social welfare organisations between Dec 2024 & Mar 2025.The 2024/25 School Care Subsidy Scheme is now accepting applications from schools. The deadline for applications is September 25.Organised by the Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, the Scheme aims to encourage student music groups from kindergartens and primary, secondary, post-secondary and special schools to care for the community. It is hoped that students will extend their good wishes to the elderly, special school students, people with disabilities, new immigrants, ethnic minorities and the beneficiaries of social welfare organisations through free on-site music performances, and thereby enhance social integration and harmony.Each performance is eligible for a maximum subsidy of $2,200 to cover costs including transportation, allowances for professionals and miscellaneous items.Successful applicants must complete their performances between December 2024 and March 2025. Outstanding teams will be invited to perform at the Gala Concert to be held in April or May 2025.Applications will be evaluated according to the feasibility, ingenuity and interactive elements of the proposed programme, as well as the music group's prior experience in organising and performing at community events. Completed forms must be emailed to the Music Office ([email protected]) by 25 September 2024.Over 400 school music groups have participated in the School Care Subsidy Scheme since its launch in 2009. The scheme is sponsored by the Sino Group.

The Public Records Office (PRO) of the Government Records Service (GRS) today (2 September) launches the annual thematic exhibition "Wedding Stories in Archives", to revisit with members of the public the evolution of Hong Kong's marriage systems and wedding customs.The “Wedding Stories in Archives” exhibition presents over 70 selected items. Apart from PRO’s holdings, there are also items from the Hong Kong Museum of History, the Immigration Department, and the Hong Kong Sheng Kung Hui Archives, to guide members of the public in exploring the evolution of the following Hong Kong’s marriage systems and customs:-various ways in which couples tied the knot before the enactment of marriage law;-the earliest law related to civil marriage was enacted in 1852;-the validity of marriages performed during the Japanese Occupation; and-the institutionalisation of monogamous marriage in 1971.Many traditional wedding customs have fallen out of favour or been simplified as times flied. Images displaying in the exhibition, including register of betrothal gifts, notices about marriages, and scenes of the bride being carried to the bridegroom’s place in a red sedan chair, offer glimpses into Hong Kong’s past wedding customs. Additionally, the exhibition revisits the development of marriage registries, including the opening of the first Sub-Registry for marriages in Kowloon in 1956, the relocation of Principal Marriage Registry to the High Block of the Hong Kong City Hall in 1962, etc. — places steeped in collective memory of citizens.The “Wedding Stories in Archives” exhibition is open from today (2 September) onwards from Monday to Friday, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. (except public holidays) at the Exhibition Hall on the second floor of the Hong Kong Public Records Building at 13 Tsui Ping Road, Kwun Tong, Kowloon. Admission is free. To enhance visitors’ experience, a new optical illusion backdrop featuring traditional wedding themes has been exclusively set up near the entrance to the Exhibition Hall. Visitors who complete missions on the exhibition leaflet will receive special souvenirs.  To facilitate those who are unable to visit in person, the PRO has developed an online exhibition(https://www.grs.gov.hk/ws/online/wedding/en/home/index.html). In addition, the PRO Facebook page (www.facebook.com/grs.publicrecordsoffice) will also share selected holdings and interesting stories featured in the exhibition.The PRO will be organising roving exhibitions to take this thematic exhibition to various districts of Hong Kong at a later date.
