CRE and BLNST is tentatively scheduled to be held in Hong Kong on 1 June 2024. Prospective applicants for civil service posts at degree or professional level are welcome to apply. Applicants may choose to take any of the CRE papers and / or the BLNST paper in the coming examinations. Common Recruitment Examination:The CRE consists of three 45-minute papers of multiple-choice questions, namely Use of English, Use of Chinese and Aptitude Test. Applicants may choose to take any of the papers. Persons who wish to apply for civil service posts at degree or professional level should first obtain the requisite CRE results as specified in the relevant recruitment advertisements. Basic Law and National Security Law Test:A pass result in the BLNST is an entry requirement for all civil service jobs. The BLNST is a 30-minute paper of multiple-choice questions. Eligibility:Holders of degree, or a qualification meeting the entry requirement on professional qualifications for civil service degree or professional posts, or university students who will have attained a degree in the academic year of 2023-24 or 2024-25. On-line: Submit an application before 5:00 p.m. on 5 April 2024 (Hong Kong time) through the on-line application system on the Civil Service Bureau (CSB) webpage at www.csb.gov.hk/eng/cre.html; or2. By post: Send application form (CSB 31 (3/2024)) to the Civil Service Examinations Unit at Room 2511, 25th Floor, Immigration Tower, 7 Gloucester Road, Wan Chai, Hong Kong (date of postmark on or before 5 April 2024). Government jobs have always been popular, yet some of them require the candidates to sit for the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE) and Basic Law and National Security Law Test (BLNST). So what are the eligibilities for applying the CRE and BLNST?>>>Must be a holder of a Bachelor’s Degree or will attain one in next academic yearPlease note that, however, an Associate Degree does not count. Applicants who fall into neither of the above two categories should hold a qualification that meets the entry requirements on professional qualifications for civil service degree or professional posts.If you are a registered student of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA) Qualification Programme, you may apply to sit for the CRE and BLNST even if you do not possess a degree since the said qualification is accepted for applying for the post of Assistant Assessor.However, if you are a registered social worker under the Social Workers Registration Ordinance but do not possess a degree, you are not eligible for sitting for the CRE and BLNST since the entry requirements for the post of Assistant Social Work Officer include both a professional qualification and a relevant degree.Before applying for the CRE and BLNST, you are advised to check from the CSB website and with the recruiting departments concerned to confirm whether the qualification you are holding is accepted for appointment to the relevant civil service degree / professional post(s).
